Biography

This profile is part of the Sweetingham Name Study.

William Henry Sweetingham was born on June 26, 1831 in Southampton, Hampshire, England, son of William Sweetingham (1811–~1898) and Mary Isaac (1790–1840).[1] [2]

At the time of the 1851 census, William was residing with his grandparents (mother's parents) in Southampton.[3]

William (22) married Hannah Roots (15) (born in 1837 in Bermondsey, London, England, United Kingdom; daughter of Edward Roots and Elizabeth (Scott) Roots) in December, 1853 in Southampton. Their children were:

William died on February 14, 1888 in Williamstown, Victoria, Australia, aged 56. He was buried in Williamstown Cemetery, Williamstown, Hobsons Bay City, Victoria, Australia.[4] [5]
