Birth

Frank was born on 3 September 1886 in Mountain Ash, Glamorgan, Wales to Edwin Henry Sweetman and Ruth Bird. who were married in March 1886 in Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales. [1][2] Before emigrating to America Frank worked as a coal hewer in the Welsh coal mines around Llanwonno, Glamorgan, Wales. [3]

Emigration and Naturalization

On 15 Jul 1913 Frank, with his father Edwin Henry Sweetman, emigrated to the United States departing Southampton, Hampshire, England aboard the SS Olympic and arriving in Quebec, Canada on 20 Jul 1913, and crossed to the US at Saint Albans, Vermont on the same day. They continued on to Port Huron, St. Clair, Michigan on 24 July 1913 and then on to Bay City, Michigan.[4][5][6] In 1917 Frank became a naturalized US Citizen in Wayne, Michigan. [7] After immigrating to the United States he graduated with a law degree from Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan and later retired from Dow Chemical in Midland.

WWI Draft Registration

In June 1916 he registered with the draft board in Bay City, Bay, Michigan, United States but wasn't called into service. [8]

First Marriage and Divorce

On 27 May 1918 Frank married his first wife Mary Francis Garver, who was 16 years older than him, in Mecosta, Michigan, United States.[9] In January 1920 he was working as a title clerk in an automobile dealership in Detroit, Michigan, United States. [7]

They divorced on 25 Jul 1925 in Wayne County, Michigan.[10] The were no children from this marriage as stated in the records.

Return to England and Second Marriage

Frank returned to England sometime between 1920 and 1927 where he married Eveline Louisa Clark on 16 June 1925 at the Parish Church, Coal Pit Heath, Gloucestershire, England. The witnesses were Stanford Clark and Doris Lilian Hooper. [11][12]

During that time he evidently was a poultry farmer in Ram Hill, Gloucestershire, England until returning to Michigan [11] on 18 May 1927, shortly after his only child was born. He sailed from Southampton, England aboard the SS Manhattan[13] arriving in New York on 24 May 1927.

WWII Draft Registration

Frank again registered for the draft, during WWII in 1942, in Midland, Michigan, United States but wasn't called into service.[14]

Death

He died on 27 July 1967 in Midland, Midland, Michigan, United States. [15][16]
