In 1860 Amanuel Nunley Jr. was a neighbor of his relative Amanuel Nunley Sr. Emanuel Jr. was age 33 b TN. His wife Mary was age 22 b TN.[2] Amanuel Nunley Sr. was age 60 b NC; his wife Catherine Nunley was age 60 b NC and daughter Elizabeth Nunley was age 27 b TN.
In 1870 Mary and Emanuel had no children. They were living in District 6 of Grundy County, Tennessee. They were neighbors of the families of her brothers Green Sweden, T B Sweden and John Sweden. Another neighbor was Emanuel Nunley's uncle Emanuel, age 70, farmer b NC and his wife Catharine age 70 b NC.
Emanuel Nunley Jr was age 43 b TN and Mary E Nunley was age 32 b TN.[3]
In 1880 Mary Nunley is found as the wife of Carroll Nunnely. He was age 52; she was age 49. In the 1880 Census their household is found between those of her brothers Greenberry and John Sweeten.

Carol and Mary Nunley had been married 41 years in 1900. He was b Nov 1832 in Tennessee. She was b Oct 1838 in Tennessee. She was the mother of 9, 6 then living.[5]
Carroll and Emeline Nunnely were living in Grundy County in 1910. He was age 73, she 70. Ed Sweeten, age 35 and his wife Victoria and their family were neighbors.[6]
