Margaret E. or Maria Margaretha Elisabetha Schweissguth (aka Schweirbgut or Swicegood in English) was born between 1739 and 1759 or Feb 1748/49 in Bierstadt, Wiesbaden, Germany. [1]
Around 1780, Sophia and Henry Clement, Margaret and Godfrey Ratz, Johann Adam Schweissguth and Phillip Schweissguth moved from Germany, via Pennsylvania to Rowan County (currently Davidson County), North Carolina. They settled near the Tyro Wagon Shops. The four familes recived many land grants.[2]
She died in Mar 20, 1806 (1789-1848) in Rowan County (area that became Davidson County in 1822), North Carolina, USA.[3]
She married Godfrey Ratz, sometime between 1778 and 1799. [4] They had the following children[5]:
Elizabeth Rattz (Dob: About 1768, Dod: 8/26/1832), married Henry Cope and had son named John Cope
Henry T. Rattz (Dob: 10/14/1770; Dod: 12/30/1833), married Barbara Winkler (Dob: 1769; Dod: 1/8/1849) on 3/2/1790
Catherine Rattz (Dob: About 1772; Dod: About 1838), married Henry Blessing in 1807.
Godfried Rattz, Jr. (Dob: 4/22/1778 in Rowan County, NC; Dod: 12/1/1840 in Davidson County, NC), married Elizabeth Gobble
Margaret Rattz (Dob: About 1789, Dod: ?) married Jacob Gobble (Dob: ? ; Dod: 11/20/1849) in 1797.
Mary Magdeline Rattz (Dob: About 1782; Dod: 8/1842) married Warren Roberts (Dob: 1772; Dod: 1816) on 8/27/1804.
Anna Marie Rattz (Dob: About 1786; Dod: 1/17/1842) married Daniel Click (Dob: 10/30/1780; Dod: 12/7/1845) on 3/6/1807. They had a son named John Nicholas Click (Dob: 1/19/1814; Dod: 7/27/1880) who maried Eliza Brinegar (Dob: 1814; Dod: 3/1847) and they had Susan Stoker.
