Biography

Thomas was born about 1595. Thomas Swift ... He passed away in 1658. Thomas Swift, the vicar of Goodrich was the Grandfather to Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels, built Newhouse Farm in 1636. A staunch royalist, he bankrupted himself in gifting his coat, sewn with 300 pieces of gold, to Charles I.

Rev. Thomas Swift, vicar of Goodrich, near Ross, in Herefordshire, married Elizabeth Dryden, niece to the poet Sir John Dryden's. [1]
