John Head Swift and Eliza Margaret Anderson were married after banns at St John the Baptist, Hoxton, Middlesex on 8th August 1852.[2] They were bachelor and spinster and both living in Britannia Street. John was of full age, working as a carver and the son of William Swift who was a foreman in St Catherine's Docks. Eliza was a minor and the daughter of John Anderson (deceased) who was a carver. They both signed their own names on the register. The witnesses to the marriage were William Swift and Eliza Kelsey.[3]
