From a footnote on page 485 of "The Life of Richard Deane, Major General and General-at-Sea..." by John Bathurst Deane, the author wrote, "By a singular revolution of the wheel of fortune, the late keeper of the crown jewels in the Tower of London, Mr. Edmund Lenthall Swifte, is a descendant of Major-General (Richard) Deane through his only married daughter, Hannah, who became the wife of Mr. Goodwin Swifte, Attorney General for the Palatinate of Tipperary, the oldest son of the Rector of Goodrich, Herefordshire..."
