Biography

Georgiana was born in 1842 to Frederick and Sarah Swift.

She was baptised November 3, 1844 at Rotherhithe St Mary in the borough of Southwark.

In the 1851 English Census she is listed as age 9, putting her birth date at 1842.

From the passenger list for her emigration to Australia - Estimated birth year: abt 1842 Age: 11 Arrived 3 Jan 1853 in Port of Geelong and Victoria, Australia Departure Port: London aboard the ship Six Sisters.

Marriage registration 1857/3604 - she married William Collier when she was 15-16 years old.

On 6 September 1889 Georgiana Collier passed away, aged 52. ^[1] However this implies a birth date around 1837, which conflicts with every other record putting her birth around 1842.

Burial The burial record in the Greytown cemetery has: Plot 54 Sacred to the memory of Georgina (sic) the beloved wife of W. D. Collier, died 6th September 1889 aged 62 years.

This would put her birth at 1827, adding to the confusion.
