According to the 1 June 1900 US Census, Anna Swinsco was born in January 1864 in Germany. The census reported she had immigrated to the United States in 1885 (the 1930 Census says 1883). She married John "Streng," aka "Strang," born in December 1854 in Germany, in late 1887 or early 1888 (13 years married on 1 June 1900). Their first son was born in December 1888.
The 1900 Census reported Anna had had 5 children, 4 of whom were living as of 1 June 1900. The couple lived in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA, where John was a "Day Laborer".[1]
They had five children, with four sons living to adulthood:
Charles John Strang, b. Dec. 1888
Henry Harry Strang, b. Apr. 1891
William Albert Strang, b. Jul. 1893
FranK C. Strang, b. Aug. 1897
Annie was widowed in 1906[2] and thereafter worked as a laundress to support her family.[3][4][5]
In April 1940, Anna Strang was living in Chicago with her unmarried, son, 48-year-old Henry Strang. He was a "Parkway maintenance laborer" there. At 75, she was no longer working.[6]
Anna "Annie" Strang passed away 23 September 1941 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA. She was buried at the Bethania Cemetery,
Justice, Cook County, Illinois, USA. [7][8]
