Edith (Swinscoe) Ream was born in Shirland, Derbyshire, England.

Edith Swinscoe was born in 1880 in Shirland, Derbyshire, England, the daughter of Alfred Swinscoe and Eliza Leeson. ^{[1] [2][3]}

In 1899 she married John Edward Ream (1875-1915).^[4]

She is known to have had at least four children:

1. Donald Jacob Ream (1900-1963)
2. Thelma Beatrice (Ream) Fisher (1903-1983)
3. Paul Merlin Ream (1905-1989)
4. Velven Ream (1907-1942)

She died in 1909^[5] and is buried in the Ottumwa Cemetery, Wapello, Iowa.^[6]
