Biography

Note

Note: Hattie's obituary reads thusly -- from the newspaper at Delta City (presumably):
IN MEMORIAM
"Mrs. Hattie Sylvester Low, wife of Mr. Rufus H. Low of this city was called to her heavenly home Saturday, March 2nd; was buried at Anguilla Sunday in the family lot, beside her sainted father, who preceded her to his final resting place a few years ago.
"Mrs. Low was born in Sharkey County March 28, 1879, was married at Anguilla, December 6, 1900. She leaves two small sons and an infant daughter. We sometimes almost doubt the wisdom of God when He calls a motheraway from her little ones, but death loves a shining mark, so we must bow our heads and say thy will, not ours, be done.
"Besides her husband and children Mrs. Low leaves an aged mother, four brothers and one sister, Mrs. O.N. Carnathan of Panther Burn, Miss. She alaso leaves a host of other relatives and friends, who deeply mourn her death, for she was a lovely character and a devoted Christian.
"She will be missed, especially in the home where she was so thoughtful of everyone. For she was a "helper at home", and had that "meek and quiet spirit", which endeared her to all who knew her, for none knew her but to love her.
"Her death was like the life had been -- peaceful and confident, and we feel assured that she has only closed her eyes to the trials of this life, to open them in the realm beyond, where "God shall wipe away all tears," and where there shall be no more sorrow nor pain; and they who loved each other here may meet to part no more. The sorrowing relatives have our deepest sympathy. May time heal the wound death has made ... [rest is cut off]"[1]
