Biography

Jesse Symmes, the son of Josiah and Betsey (Johnson) Symmes, was born about 1821, in Medford, Massachusetts.[1][2][3]

He married at age 40, on December 23, 1861, at Concord, New Hampshire, Arvilla M. Kimball, daughter of Jonathan and Hannah (Chase) Kimball.[1][2]

Jesse Symmes, "Carpenter," of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, died of "inflammation of the bowels," August 28, 1862, aged 43, at New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was apparently stationed with the Union Army's 30th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War.[3]
