Rev. Timothy Symes was born 27 May 1714[1] and m. Mary Cleves about 1741. He passed away 6 Apr 1756.[2][3] Mary Cleves was b. about 1717 and died about 1746. They were the parents of Col. John Cleves Symmes (1742-1814).[4]

He married second Eunice Cogswell, daughter of Francis and Hannah Cogswell of Ipswich, in 1652.[5] After his death, Eunice married Richard Potter.

He graduated Harvard College in 1733 and held pastorates in Connecticut, Long Island, New Jersey before removing to Ipswich in 1752. He is said to have been minister of the First Church of Scituate (now First Unitarian Church of Norwell, Massachusetts, See NEHGR Vol LX (1906) for Records of the First Church of Scituate) however the Symmes Memorial states he was never formally installed there.[5]

Symmes-112 and Symmes-4 appear to represent the same person because: This Timothy II is the same man married to Mary, mother of the same Timothy III, his son. No tree conflicts. Thanks!
