Babson's History of Gloucester mentions the Reverend John Emerson extensively, including that[1]:
"Mr. Emerson's wife was Ruth, daughter of Deputy-Gov. Symonds. She died Feb. 23, 1702. His children were —
Ruth, born in 1660, married, first, John Newman, Esq., Dec. 1, 1683, and next, probably, Samuel Sargent;
Martha, 1662, married William Cogswell* of Ipswich;
Mary, 1664, married Samuel Phillips of Salem, May 26, 1687, and died Oct. 4, 1703 ;
Elizabeth, 1667, died in 1683 ;
John, 1670;
Dorothy, 1675, married a Henchman; and
Samuel, 1678, who died in 1687.
Ruth (Symonds) Emerson, the widow of John Emerson, is confirmed to have died before December 23,1701-2 in Gloucester.[2]
Gloucester records confirm that the children of the union between John Emerson and Ruth Symonds were:
Ruth Emerson, the daughter of John and Ruth, was born in Gloucester on August 26, 1660.[3] Ruth, born in 1660, married, first, John Newman, Esq., Dec. 1, 1683[4], and next, probably, Samuel Sargent;

Name
Name: Ruth Symonds [12] a daughter of Samuel & Martha Reade/Read Symonds [13][14]
Dual Birth details needs to be sourced fully. 1640 is more likely.
They were known to live in the Gloucester area, but the exact location is unknown. They lived in an area of Cape Ann at a bend in the Annisquam River that has since been reclaimed by forests.

Simonds-153 and Symonds-310 appear to represent the same person because: These two need to be merged !!! The correct information is on profile 310 - the mother is Martha Reade and that's why 153 needs to go away
I have removed the mother in Simonds-153 is there a reason there is a 20 year age difference in these Ruth's? Was -153 based on estimate with the wrong mother? Not trying to hamper progress but just want to make sure we have evidence to support correct mother and correct birth year
153's info was just a guess from someone's family tree. The sources for Ruth 310's info are on her father's page. This profile could probably use a little love to make it easier to read - thanks for your care in making sure the end result is correct
Simonds-153 and Symonds-310 are not ready to be merged because: Different mothers and large gap in birth dates - additional research should be done to source correct info before merge should proceed
Simonds-153 and Symonds-310 appear to represent the same person because: Same woman married to the same profile. The LNAB and dates on Symonds-310 are accurate; Martha Reade is the correct mother
