He was born (based on marriage date) about 1558.[1] He was the son of John Symonds of Newport, Essex, by his wife Ann, the daughter of Thomas Benbow. [2]
He married at Great Yeldham 9 January 1580/1, Elizabeth, daughter of Robert and Mary (____) Plumb. [3][4][5] Their son Samuel became Deputy Governor of Massachusetts Bay. [6]
His will was located in the Consistory Court of London, dated 10 Oct 1623. He identifies himself as gentleman; he wishes to be buried near his wife within the church of Yeldham. Bequests included:

my brother Edmone Plome;
my natural brethren Francis and Roger;
my three sisters;

my eldest son Richard Fitz Symons [unmarried; there is long text about how sons John and Richard are to be with each other suggesting a possible dispute; that if sonJohn refuses to abide by the terms of the will regarding Richard, that he and his heirs lose their inheritance]

to Thomas Potter; to Henry Cooke.
He was buried at Great Yeldham, Essex as "Mr Richard Symonds" on 10 Jul 1627. [7]
