Biography

John was born 20 Dec 1825^[1]at the family home in Hareston and baptised at the Parish church at Brixton.

He was the son of James Symons and Jane Morshead. The family emigrated on the Katherine Stewart Forbes in 1841 with two of John's cousins Charles Henry Symons and Henry Morshead Symons.

In 1854 he married Mary Hardwicke ^[2]

They seem to have only had one child Sophia Jane Symons born two years later ^[3]

He died at the age of 66 ^[4] was buried at the Bolton St Cemetery in Wellington with his mother.
