Biography

According to a Taber family genealogy[1], Peleg was born to Philip and Phebe (Brownell) Taber in 1725 in Tiverton, Rhode Island. However, his gravestone (from Find a Grave) lists his age at death in 1802 to be 68-69 years, indicating his year of birth would have been 1733.

He married Meribah Taber, his 1st cousin (her father was his uncle William in 1752. He married his second wife Hannah in 1752 and after her untimely death in 1777 he married Mary Nancy Wordell after 1777 and before the before the birth of their first child in 1781.[1]

They moved first to Quaker Hill, New York, then Crum Elbow, Dutchess County, New York and, in 1788, were in Washington, Dutchess, New York.[1]

Peleg was a housepainter.[1]

Peleg died in Troy, New York on 2 June 1802 and is buried at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in East Schodack, New York.[2]

His will mentions 'dear and loving wife' 1/3, Left 7sons, 8 daus, Gershom and William exec. Daus, Elizabeth, Ruth, Meribah, Roba Susanna, Phebe, 63 cents each and son Philip 63 cents if they demand it. Daus. Mary and Hannah, the interest their mother had at her decease. Sons Gershom, William, John, George, Peleg, Silas, remainder of real and personal estate. Noah Shaw to have charge of his sons until of age. Sons Gershom and William Exec. to keep estate till younger bros are 21.[1]

Tabor-4544 and Taber-1623 appear to represent the same person because: all the sources i have seen use Taber as the spelling. this merge brings together his 3 wives.
