Research Progress

Marriage (1):

The burial memorial of William TACKETT stated that he was first married to Alsey J. LEMASTER, the daughter of James Richard LEMASTER and Rebecca CHRISTIAN.

While there was probably a William TACKETT that married to Alsey J. LEMASTER, the children of this couple as seen in multiple trees point towards it being a different William TACKETT. The reasoning for this is as follows:

  1. Age of William TACKETT at the time of this marriage which was estimated to have been about 1855 would have only been about 11 years old.
  2. 1860 Census record of William TACKETT in Morgan County, Kentucky[5] does not match with age and place of residence reflected with the son of Levi TACKETT in this year.
  3. 1860 census record[5] lists a child in household named Andrew T. TACKET age 10 years, making this child if he was the grandson of Levi TACKETT born when Levi's William TACKETT was only 5 years old. The next child listed was Sarah E. TACKET who was 4 years old. The last child listed was Jasper N. TACKET who was listed as being 3 years old.
