Anson was born in Missouri in 1871. He was the son of Sylvenus Taft and Violetta Curtis. In 1880 Anson was living with his parents and siblings in Santa Rosa, California. He married Gertrude Nordlund (Sweeden) in 1893. In 1894 Anson was registered to vote in Fresno, California. In 1899 he registered to serve in the National Guard (Troop D Cavalry). In 1900 Anson was living with his wife and son in Los Angeles, California. Gertrude divorced Anson on 11/16/1904. In 1910 he was living with his sister in Berkley, California where he was working in a candy wafer store. He died 8/8/1910 and is buried with family members in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery (Plot Rural WHC 218).
