Biography

Nora was born in 1881 to Thomas Taggart and Eva Bryant in Indianapolis.

In 1910, Nora married David Chambers. They had at least three children.

One of the most interesting nuptial affairs of this week will be the wedding Miss Nora Taggart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Taggart, and David Laurence Chambers. The wedding will take place Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents on North Capitol avenue. The at home announcement is for the Stratford, after May 20.

Graveside services for Nora Taggart Chambers will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Chambers, widow of D. Laurance Chambers, former president and board chairman of the Bobbs-Merrill Co, died yesterday in her home at 1321 N. Meridian.

She was the daughter of Thomas Taggart, former mayor of Indianapolis and U.S. senator and one-time owner of the French Lick Springs Hotel and a national Democratic committeeman.

She was a life resident of Indianapolis and graduated from Benjamin Harrison School and Shortridge High School, where she was editor of the Echo, the school newspaper. She graduated from Vassar College in 1903.

Mrs. Chambers was an honorary member of the Dramatic Club of Indianapolis and a member of the Garden Club, the Indianapolis Woman's Club and the Indiana Vassar Club.

Survivors—son David L. Chambers Jr., president of the Indianapolis Stockyards Co.; daughter Mrs. Julius Birge; sisters Mrs. William J. Young, Indianapolis, Mrs. W. R. Sinclair, Hyannisport, Mass.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Planner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary. They are asked that memorial gifts be given to charities.
