Emily (Talbot) Smith was born in India

Emily was born in 1833. She is the daughter of Henry Talbot and Julia Anderson.^[1] She was baptised on 8 Feb 1837 at Neemuch, Bengal.^[2]

She married Wemyss Smith on 1 October 1851 at Lucknow, Bengal, India.^[3]

The 1871 Census lists Emily F Smith as the head of a household living in Brompton, London, Middlesex. She is the wife of an Indian Officer who is in India at that time. Living with her are 11 children: her children, Marriel (18), Rita A (15), Agnes M (14), Emily T (11), Wemyss (9), and Robert (7). Her brother Henry Blaquiere Talbot’s children are also living with her: nieces Emily Talbot (16), Julia Talbot (13), Cecil Talbot (7), Pauline Talbot (4) and nephew Robert Talbot (11).^[4] Their mother Rebecca had died on 12 October 1870 and their father didn’t remarry until December 1871.
