Madeline V. Worden, 92, died Tuesday, July 27th at Primrose Assisted Living Center in Gillette, Wyoming.

Madeline was born January 29, 1924 at Golden, Colorado the daughter of Charles A. and Vera A. (Walberg) Tanner. The family moved to Lakewood, Colorado where she graduated from Lakewood High school. Following high school she attended and graduated from Colorado Women’s College in Denver.

Following school she was employed by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad in Denver until leaving for the oil patches of Wyoming. She later picked up her business career working for the Sioux Oil Refining Company and then going to work for the U. S. Forest Service on the Elk Mountain Ranger District. December 20, 1946, Madeline married Glenn E. Worden in Wheatridge, Colorado. The family moved North settling in Midwest, Wyoming and later Newcastle, Wyoming which became her permanent home.

Born to the couple were two sons, Michael E. Worden and Dr. Scott E. Worden. Later came grandchildren to include Rebekah L. Clyde and Geoffrey M. Worden, and later great grandchildren Chord M. Worden, Tristin, Taylor and Taryn Clyde; daughters-in-law Lois Worden and Sherry Worden and her constant companion Charlie, her Boston Terrier.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Glenn, daughter-in-law Sandra Worden.

Madeline also had a large social life, being a member of First United Methodist Church. And presiding over Newcastle Chapter #32, O.E.S. of Newcastle, and P.E.O. Chapter AG of Newcastle. She was especially proud of her association and acceptance into the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Visitation and viewing were held Friday, July 29th at Worden Chapel in Newcastle. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30th at First United Methodist Church with OES and PEO graveside rites. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Gorman Funeral Home of Douglas, and Pier Funeral Home of Lusk, Wyoming.
