Biography

When George Caleb TANNER was born on June 7, 1874, in Montrose, Michigan, his father, Joseph, was 38 and his mother, Emily, was 35. He married Lillie Lynch on February 3, 1894, in Genesee, Michigan. He divorced her on the grounds of extreme cruelty on June 22, 1898. He then married Isabella STEVENS a year later on June 3, 1899 and they had two children together. He died on February 6, 1929, in Flint, Michigan, at the age of 54, and was buried in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

1929 May 20, Monday, Flint Journal, Page 2 TANNER - George C. Tanner, 54 years old, 416 W. Tobias-st, died at home today of a complication of diseases, after an illness of one year. He was born in Montrose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tanner, and spent virtually his whole life in Genesee-co. He married Bell Steven in Flint 30 years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Grace Swartout of Flint; a son, Clinton Tanner of Flint; a grandson and a sister, Mrs. Emogene Smith of Clare.
