Hi Jonathan,

Can you please unblock the merge request for Salisbury-1256 and Salisbury-1700. As I stated in my reply to your comment back in June the manager of the other profile will not be able to provide the information you requested as there are no such records.

Thank you.

Hi Dianne,

If I recall correctly this was one of a long list of merges I was asked to look at in the context of a GEDCOM import. I confess I hadn't intended to "block" this merge. I think I merely chose the postpone option as I was unsure the two profiles represented the same person.

You are much closer to, Douglas, the individual involved, and clearly far better apprised of his situation than I am. I have gone ahead and hit "merge" now as I believe it is the only button available to me that delivers the outcome which you have indicated that you desire. The system has responded that a merger of the two has already been instigated:

"Doug Salisbury (Salisbury-1256) and Douglas Salisbury (Salisbury-1700) are already connected in a proposed merge."

I think I can say with some confidence that I am not an obstacle to your objective(s) for this profile. Incidentally I don't recall having seen your earlier comment of June 12th, 2020; most probably because I didn't opt to receive messages pertaining to Salisbury-1256 or Salisbury-1700 reflecting the fact that I'm not directly related to either of them. I only became involved in the merger because WikiTree asked me to look the case over. I hope this clarifies.

Best wishes Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the quick reply. You're right, you did postpone it, I just couldn't remember the wording of the original message I received, I only know that the merge won't complete. I've checked on this every few months and each time I've clicked merge but it still hasn't happened. What happens if the other profile manager isn't active? How do I get the merge completed?

Thanks for your help, Dianne

Hi Dianne,

Regret to have to say, that I don't know what can be done to progress matters. I have no influence on this process.

Hi Jonathan

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

Hello Jonathan: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Labossiere-406 Labossiere-406 is ready to have Laborssiere-1 merged into it. You were concerned that they are not the same people. I can assure you that they definitely are by the large amount of careful research that I have done on the Labossiere family and the amount of original sources that I have for that family. If you have any role in this merge, could you please move it along now.

Thank you. Best wishes, Jim LaBossiere

Hi Debi,

Thank you for your message. I entered a few profiles from my grandmother's genealogy and tested the Wiki relationship finder widget on those entries. I'm very impressed with the results.
