Later the same year he Landed Calcutta. and served in the East Indies until 1866

In 1867 He was Adjutant & Lieutenantat Curragh Camp, Ireland. 54th Foot
1873 Promoted Captain. 54th Foot
The following year In 1874 he married Edith Margaret Desoul Brown at Jullundur, Punjab noted as Capt 54th Regiment.
1876 Birth of a daughter Margaret b. at Gwailor.
1878 Returned to Britain, living Scotland.
1879 mentioned in the will of Rev. Thomas Bagot Armstrong
1880 Half Pay.
1881 Census; living at Duntrune Ter, 4, Dundee, St Andrew, Forfarshire (Angus), Scotland
1888 Lt Col James H Tarleton, was Secretary University Club, 18 Murchiston Terrace, Edinburgh [2]
1895 he died post this date.
