According to his marriage record, Jan Teerpenning was born in Mormelton (Marbletown), Ulster County, New York. Record of his baptism has not been identified. He has been inferred to be a son of Gerrit Lammertsen and Annetie Hoogland.

Jan Teerpeningh was listed in a tax assessment list for New Paltz, Ulster County, New York, on 16 January 1712/3. He was assessed 5 pounds for his real estate and 3 shillings, 2-1/2 pence for personal estate.[1] Jan Teerpenningh of the "Town of New Palles" was assessed for 3 pounds in the Ulster County tax assessment list of 23 January 1716/7. He is the only man of the family name Teerpenningh or variants whose name appears on this tax list.[2]

Jan was married 1723 Aug 17 to Hester Freer.[3] Their daughter is Antjen. [4]

On 19 May 1723 Jan Teerpenning and Hester Freer witnessed the baptism in Kingston of Elisabeth, daughter of Hugo Freer, Jr., and Bregjen Teerpenning. [5]

Research Notes

I think the LNAB should be Teerpenningh, the name that appears on the tax record (earliest source to give him a last name). -Smith-62120 05:18, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
