Cationary Note: Noted: Comfort Gott , step-daughter of Andrew Tarr, and known as Comfort Tarr, married Tobias Fernald, as Comfort Tarr.

Comfort Gott born 1771 married 1807 [6 May 1807] Tobias Fernald as Comfort Tarr_Gott Genealogy, Wm. O. Sawtelle

Admitted as Comfort Tarr to First Church of Mount Desert, 16 Sept, 1798. [date of death also given]

There is no spot on t he entire Island where so much interest centers as at Fernald's Point. It is situated at Southwest Harbor, at the entrance to Somes' Sound.

Famliy: Patience Gott was the daughter of Daniel Gott & Rachel Littlefield. Patience had two husbands:

1)Stephen Gott Jr. s/o Stephen Gott & Eunice Emmons. Patience & Stephen married 9 January 1755 in Gloucester, Essex Co. MA. Children of first marriage: Peter Gott, Elizabeth Gott, Rachel Gott, Stephen Gott, Eliab Littlefield Gott, Comfort Gott , & Andrew Gott Sometime about 1772-1773 Patience & Stephen divorced.

Marriage #2 Andrew Tarr m. 28 October 1776 Gloucester, Essex Co., MA Children of second marriage: Andrew Tarr Jr., Daniel Tarr

Andrew & Patience Gott Tarr were both buried at Fernald Point, Mount Desert, Hancock Co., ME in unmarked graves with no tombstones according to the research of William Otis Sawtelle.

Noted: Comfort Gott, step-daughter of Andrew Tarr, married Tobias Fernald, as Comfort Tarr. Her mother married Andrew Tarr when she was about six years of age. She was known locally as Comfort Tarr. Her date of birth is often given as 1780, which does not agree with the Gott genealogy.
