"Della Traylor, 88, a Velpen resident for 18 years, died May 22 at Holiday Home in Petersburg wehre she had been for several weeks. Mrs Traylor had been in failing health for five years and seriously ill for three weeks, suffering from skin cancers and the infirmities of advanced age. She was born near Cato April 5, 1881, the daughter of Zachariah and Margaret Whaley Tate. She was married to Elwood Traylor who died April 21, 1937. Mrs Traylor at one time wrote Velpen items for the Pike County Dispatch. She attended Traylor Chapel as long as her health permitted. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs Edith Brittain and Mrs Helen Foster of Route 2, Winslow, Mrs Hazel Griffith of Winslow and Mrs Ruth Wiscaver of Otwell; one brother, Edgar Brittain of Winslow, Rural Route; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at Harris Funeral Home, Saturday at 2 pm with the Rev. Home Leighty and the Rev. John Hand officiating. Burial was in the IOOF cemetery in Otwell." (findagrave)
