Edward was born in 1883, in Houghton le Spring, County Durham, England, the son of Elizabeth Tait and an unknown father.[1]
When he was four years old, his mother married George Hills in 1887, and Edward was known as Hills from then on.
Not long after the wedding, the new Hills family packed up and emigrated to the Colonies where Edward was to gain six sisters and three brothers.
Edward passed away on the 12th April 1950, in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia,[2] and was interred alongside his mother in the Bundaberg General Cemetery.[3]
