During the American Revolution, Henry served on 25 Mar 1776 as an Ensign in the 5th Regiment of the Virginia Line. On 13 Dec 1776, he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. He was wounded at Brandywine on 11 Sep 1777, and retired on 14 Sep 1778. [3][1] He was allowed a pension for his service.[4][5]
On 10 Jul 1783, he married Dorothea Claiborne at Dinwiddie, Virginia.[2][1]

Henry Tatum passed away on 22 Jul 1836 at Richmond, Virginia.[1]
