Hi Miri,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources; find or merge duplicates; clean up GEDCOM or merged biographies; or interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hello Miri,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

I would like to suggest that the Scotland Project could fit your current research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Please take your time. Accuracy is so much more important than speed on WikiTree. And please add locations, dates, and at least one reliable source to each profile, particularly any pre-1700s profile, before you leave it. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Have questions? Reply to this comment or ask in the comments section of my profile.

 :)

Hi, Miri!

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Take care,

Hi Miri. When you agreed to abide by the WikiTree Honor Code, that included agreeing to cite your sources. Writing "family fact" on all your profiles does not count as a valid source because other people can't verify that. The source doesn't have to be some old official document; just describe the thing that you are holding in your hand from which you are copying this information. For example, "a handwritten family tree prepared in the late 1800s by Dr Higgins". Another good place to find sources is familysearch.org, which is free to the public, and has records for the Moore ancestors you've just entered.
ah ok, I am new to Wikitree and thought I was doing what it told me to, but happy to find more detail. Yes it was from a list my grandfather, Dr Higgin wrote (well typed) but late 1900's, not 1800's. Is it ideally birth certificates? I actually have an enormous tree offline but only put a little bit on Wikitree as I wasn't sure if some of it might be inaccurate further on. I will go back to my tree and see what I already have source-wise and add. Thanks

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi M!

Welcome to WikiTree! You can now get started adding your branch of the global tree. Our New Member How-To is a great reference for all things WikiTree.

By the way, if you ever get a "Page Not Found" error when you click a link in a WikiTree email, you can usually find a functioning link in the public comments section of your profile page.

Give me a shout if I can help in any way.
