Hunia Taukawe ... [1]

[2]

Ngati Raukawa
In 1995, The Maori Land Court [3] confirmed that a Haoni Taukawe (presumably Hunia Taukawe father ?) was a member of the Te Ati Haunui a paparangi iwi from the Whanganui River and is one of the original owners of Ohutu Land areas alongside the Matihiwi Marae. The daughter Pirihira was born in Otaki and deemed a member of the Ngati Raukawe tribe.
In 2009, the Maori Land Court confirmed that Haoni Taukawe was included as a landowner of maori land situated in the Ohariu Block, Wellington area and his successors were to be Hunia and Pirihira.

Research Notes

There is some question that Pirihira was the name of Hunia's daughter or even his spouse. Other suggestions have been that Hunia's spouse was actually Rehua Nga Morehu and their daughter was named Pirihira.
Hunia Taukawe and his father Haoni Taukawe are believed to be from the Matihiwi Marae on the Whanganui River. No evidence to date that his Birth Place is Otaki.

Taukawe-3 and Taukawe-2 appear to represent the same person because: Married to same person. Appears to be same person.

Taukawe-3 and Taukawe-2 are not ready to be merged because: Although these two Hunia entries are probably the one and same, it is believed that the details shown for these two Hunia Taukawe entries require investigation rather than just "merged." There is some question that Pirihira was the name of Hunia's daughter or even his spouse. Other suggestions have been that Hunia's spouse was actually Rehua Nga Morehu and their daughter was named Pirihira. In 2009, the Maori Land Court confirmed that Haoni Taukawe was included as a landowner of maori land situated in the Ohariu Block, Wellington area and his successors were to be Hunia and Pirihira. Clarification of these matters would therefore be preferred at time of merger.

Since they are obviously the same person they should be merged and then researched for place of birth.
