Ort's biography of Marie Taylor says: "Marie Taylor--Daughter of Samuel and Sally Taylor was born in Canada, Thurs. Aug. 14th 1817. --Died of pneumonia at her farm residence in Atchison County, Missouri at 9:30 a.m. Sun. Nov. 24th 1878--Aged 61 years, 3 Mo. and 10 days. She was my mother's mother. (Ort)"
Marie Taylor's name is given as Mariah Taylor in some genealogies; however, the census records usually list it as Maria; one of her daughters was given the middle name of Maria; and in Ort Bachelor's genealogy, she is called Marie. Her tombstone gives her name as Mariah. In the 1860 census, Marie's birthplace is listed as Kingston, UC (Upper Canada).
