Hi!

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

I hope you're enjoying our site. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well!

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

We also have our Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course I'm here to help, just ask!

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the Help section or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Welcome! Patt

I have been a genealogist since 1967 when I started my search for my mother's grandfather, after 20 years I found him. I volunteer to help ladies join the DAR. I am in expert in the genealogy of Pacific Grove High School staff and students, and am slowly transcribing the Monterey Peninsula newspapers obits online on Monterey County GenWeb Forum. I also index eight papers for ODT. I have been collecting obits from many CA papers since about 2000 and am always looking to trade collections with other obit collector/harvesters.

Mary ,

I noticed you plan to or already uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to instructions on the step-by-step gedcom import at WikiTree , including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our gedom instructions

Please keep in mind that our vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Thank you for taking the time to go through your gedmatches.

TIP: if your ancestor was born over two hundred years ago, there's a very good chance she/he already has a profile on wikitree.
