This profile was edited 19th Sept 2023 after being identified as conflated with a different Samuel Taylor family of Essex County, Virginia. H. Kleine, U.S. Southern Colonies Project.
Incorrect spouse, Susanna (Upshaw) Taylor, and the documented children of her marriage.
She was the wife of Samuel Taylor (m. 1771) who died in Essex County, Virginia prior to 18th July 1791. His widow, Susanna (Upshaw) Taylor, was granted administration of his estate in Essex County Court. Their children were thereafter named in an Essex County guardian bond, minors in 1793, to include:
"Not sure where the following dates came from??" [This is record of the above named Samuel Taylor "of Essex Co." who died there.]
Also removed, the compiled military history of Capt. Thomas Upshaw, brother to Susannah (Upshaw) Taylor, of Essex Co.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:
I have listed 2 other children, Issac and Susannah. Findagrave says 8 children by Sarah.
I do not know anything about Susannah Upshaw. Clint manages her.
It is important since the births of most of Samuel's children were after that marriage date 27 Jan 1771 in Essex County, Virginia.
The Will still lists Samuel's wife Sarah on it per findagrave and the only Susannah listed is a child as far as I can tell.
It is somewhat confusing. Maybe Clint Carter can shed some light on it all.
I have not seen other trees listing Sussanah Upshaw as a wife of Samuel Leiper Taylor. Sarah Stewart survived Samuel. Most of the family moved to Kentucky & Ohio after her death in 1800. I tried to link the Will, but was unsuccessful. The 2 Jacobs that are linked are not correct. Jacob should be the youngest son not the oldest. The Jacob (1778-1818) in the biography is correct. Those dates come from a biography of his son, also named Jacob, in the Harrison County Kentucky history by William Henry Perrin, 1882.
Hi Jeannie, It appears Clint has not been active since 2015. His profile for Susanna Upshaw needs to be removed as spouse and merged with another I've just sourced, connected to her family. This Samuel Taylor was never married to Susanna Upshaw of Essex County. She survived her husband Samuel Taylor who died in Essex County prior to her being granted administration of his estate there in 1791. Their children, yet minors, Lucy Taylor, Polly Taylor, Sally Taylor, Sthreshley Taylor & Tamson Taylor, were clearly named in an Essex County guardian's bond in 1793 as orphan's of their father. There is primary source documentation on these profiles so I can separate these two families if no objections.
I can remove Susanna as a spouse but can't do anything about your merge of Susanna Upshaw since Clint is the only manager so he would have to approve that merge request. I descend from Sarah Stewart. I do not know Clint so can't say why he is inactive, but he may have passed away or lost interest, so it may become an issue for you to get a merge approval.
Wiki tree does ask people to check to see if a profile exists for the person and then if you enter their profile Name-number at creation then it automatically makes you a co-manager as long as you put in the name and birth and death dates, and so you then do not need the managers approval to do that.
This eliminates the need to deal with managers.
If you have already created the profile for Susanna Upshaw, there is a way around it. Basically, you can create another profile for Susanna using the method I suggested putting in the name-number of his Susanna profile. Then for your old Susanna profile you can send a merge request from your joint profile with Clint to your old Susanna profile. Then you approve it on your old profile and you should be able to complete the merge from one of those profiles.
If that doesn't work, then what I normally do is look for a relative that has the same surname but has no profile on Wiki tree already.
Then you can eliminate or change the first name on the old profile to the name of the missing relative, then change dates and other info. Then remove the incorrect connection and connect the profile to it's real parents or sibling or child. Then disconnect the other relatives like previous old profile children and add them to the right profiles. It's work. And if desperate, the profile can just be abandoned and someone else can use it or attach it or become it's manager. Anyone can become the manager of abandoned profiles. I will use those abandoned profiles if they are not attached to any other profiles just to reconnect them to the Wiki tree and change either first name or dates to match my relative when creating their profile. Ideal is to search for previous profiles first. Wiki tree has rules that are one profile per person. You can remove all info on your old Susanna profile except the Surname and some year for birth and death, then detach and abandon it.
Once you are a co-manager with Clint, you may be able to remove the marriage and attach Sussanah to the right spouse yourself.
Let me know how it goes. Since it appears clear she is not a spouse of this Samuel, I won't mind removing her as a spouse.
I will keep her there currently, so it is easy for us to find our correspondence. But just say you need help if you do. The children on here will have to be dealt with afterwards and I will see what we need to do once you have Susanna done.
Thanks Jeannie. I think I have successfully separated the two families and left links in notes for anyone who may come looking for "the removed" wife & kiddos. There are primary sources to prove those relationships so it's a good separation. Because this Samuel had two attached daughters named Mary, and a third by the nickname Polly, I moved one and renamed the other profile Susannah, who has a primary source, but had no profile. The only thing I did not address is this Samuel's "did not yet exist" birth location, aside from removing the "United States" location due to it causing a "too early" error. Oh, and to let you know, unresponsive merge requests default approve in 30 days and can then be completed by anyone, which is fine if there is documentation, can be a beast if not. ~Honi
Quall-1 removed (on September 24, 2023) the 2 extra Jacob Taylor profiles that were not the same as the correct profile for the son of Samuel and Sarah.
Taylor-25894 and Taylor-24073 appear to represent the same person because: The dates are a little off, but many of the children match (see Biographies). The two profiles list different mothers. But Samuel Taylor had two wives, so it could be that one or the other is his mother.

Now I will have to deal with all the Jacobs. Blessings.
