Biography

James was born in 1769. He passed away in 1848. :

A cousin to Pres. James Madison, James Taylor used family influence to establish Newport Barracks, bringing the US Army into the Kentucky wilderness. Taylor is said to have a net worth of over 4 million dollars when he died (about $150 million today). Although a great deal of his eventual wealth came from marrying Keturah Leitch, when he died Taylor only left her the use of 4 rooms in Belle Vue as her residence.
