Descendants of John Taylor
Loading...John Henry Tuke Taylor, son of Henry Algernon Taylor and Georgina Cass, was born and raised in Ware, Hertsfordshire. Due to ill health he emigrated to Australia in 1911 along with his brother Edward Algernon.
The two brothers lived in Broken Hill, NSW before settling on a grazing property outside Wetheron, QLD. When WW1 broke out, John was denied enlistment on medical grounds, but both of his brothers served and were killed. After their deaths, John decided not to return to England and married Evelyn Flossie Walker of Barcaldine, QLD.
Having married in 1919, they bought "Widbury" at Eidsvold, Queensland. This property was renamed "Old Widbury" following the purchase of the neighbouring property, named "Widbury".
They had five children: Joan Odette, Donald Dobede, Edith Pamela, Diana May, and Barbara Evelyn.
In 1964, "Mooroongie" was purchased, and John ran the three properties in partnership with his daughter Barbara.
John passed away in 1977, survived by his wife and four children.
