Biography

Catherine Penn Taylor was born about 1779 in Virginia. I'm guessing "Penn" was her middle name. She married Richard Griffin Jr. 1770-1875. They supposedly had the following children when Catherine was 11 years old??? Something is very wrong here. Was there a first wife??

Theresa "Terry" Griffin 1790-1824

Mary Griffin 1792-1860

Spencer David Griffin 1796 - 1878 (3rd G-Grandfather of Jayne Peace Pyle)

Richard E. Griffin 1816 - 1885

William Griffin About 1819 -

There is 20 years between the first 3 kids and the second 2. Maybe Catherine was the mother of the last 2 or 3 kids???? All genealogy records I have seen say she is the mother, but there had to have been a first wife. I don't believe she had babies at age 11 and 13. The names and dates of the children come from my genealogy records and those of all on line who have her information.

I added her death date and place from Family records, hoping we can find legal documents.

Please help, anyone who can!

UPDATE: Yes, there was a first wife, but we don't know her name. She was the mother of the first three children. The second wife was Catherine Taylor and she was the mother of the 4th and 5th children, Richard and William. - Jayne Peace Pyle
