Biography

Memories, before I, his sister Carole forget.

When Herschel Lee was born Dad/Mom lived at 1445 Grant Ave. Clearwater, California. In the little house that Dad and his friends built themselves in summer 1940...

This is the property that they bought and built their first little home.

" During the War Dad would pick up a soldier hitchhiking and bring him home for the :weekend if his family was not nearby." according to the 1940 census they owned their home.

When I, was born, they still lived in the same house. This according to my birth cert. and family photos.

After the war ended Dad transferred from Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach to the Southern Pacific Railroad as Switchman, in Fresno. We lived in a trailer park until Mom had my sister, Barbara. Then we lived in a 2 story house for a short time until Dad came home and told Mom that "We bought a farm." in Fresno.

Research NOTE: just noticed that Daddy was a 3rd generation Railroad Man.

His father Clarence worked for the railroad, Boilermaker

His grampa Lemuel worked for the railroad, Brakeman

We lived there until Dad died in December 19, 1951.

Herschel would have gone to school at McKinley School, Fresno 1st-3rd until we had to move to Pasadena with our Grandparents. Can not remember going to school but we must have.??? Then we moved again, we attended Wells School in Rosemead. We lived on Mission Rd. After school was out June 1954 Mom moved us to the 2 story house, Arcadia. It was on the corner of Santa Anita and El Dorado...We went to school at Camino Grove. Then we had to move to Fano St. While we lived there Herschel met and married Judy LeClaire. She had Hersh's 1st son Michael Lee. It was a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house. Mom, Barb, Me, Herschel, Judy and Michael... lived there for about a year until Hersh found an apartment for them.

Hersh was 17 when Mom signed for him to join the Navy, he served 3 yrs. until he broke his leg so badly they released him.

After the Navy Hersh went to work for a mechanics shop. Wendall's in Arcadia. then he went to Louie's Sports Car until Louie retired and Hersh bought the business.

He was married 4 times.

Aug. 12 2016 we talked on the phone for awhile, so great to hear from him.

9. and the last time we saw Jonathan he was married and Karen was pregnant with twins, 2007...

In his retirement years he joined a motorized airplane club. He built planes and sold them as a hobby.

He and his wife Kim bought a home in Wrightwood CA where he died of cancer after a 7 year "FIGHT" . KIM and 3 of his kids were with him. Our sister Barbara had visited just a day before. I couldn't be there, But I had just been with them 2 months prior, when Hersh and Kim got married. Died of cancer at home with only 3 of his 6 kids with him. And his 4th wife, Kim.

Survived by: his Mom and wife-Kim, 6 children: Michael Lee-Kevin Jon-Timothy Allen-Jennifer Lee-Brian - Jonathan- and 8 grandkids, both his sisters, Carole & Barbara

-Mom died same year 6 months after her son.
