Joseph was born about 1827, the son of John Taylor and Maria Purser. [1] The 1851 Census records his Birthplace as Pershore, Worcestershire [2]
He was christened together with his siblings Maria and Sarah on 31 January 1830 in the Saint Andrews Parish of Pershore, Worcestershire, [3]
At the time of the 1841 Census he and a number of his siblings were residing in Worcester Street, Pershore, most probably the Taylor family home, with a James Taylor (b. 1762-1766) probably their grandfather. [4]
At the time of the 1851 Census Joseph, unmarried and a Land Surveyor, and a number of his siblings were residing in High Street, Pershore with their elder sister and Head of Household (Maria) Margery[5]
