I remember Jane suffering with arthritis very badly and she was in a care home with her mother, who also had the same health problem and both being in a lot of pain all the time.
Jane liked gin - she wasn't allowed any alcohol in the care home but she'd get my father to bring her a small bottle which she hid in a drawer!
