Biography

Sarah Frances Taylor was born in Georgia to John Taylor and Frances Whitton. The date of birth is based on her age cited in the 1850 US Census.

The 1850 US Census for District 149, Greene, Georgia enumerates John and Frances Taylor with five children living in the home. Sarah was fourteen years old.[1]

Sarah married Thomas Colclough 5 August 1859 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. [2]

In 1860 Thomas and Sarah were living in Greene County, Georgia. There was a thirty three year old male from Poland living with them - possibly a boarder. [3]

In 1900 Sarah is enumerated in the US Federal Census living in Vineville, Bibb, Georgia with son, ??, his wife and 4 children.[4]

In 1910 Sarah was widowed, living in Falling Creek, Oglethorpe County, Georgia with her daughter Sara McWhorter (also widowed) and nine of her grandchildren. There were also three boarders and two servants living in the home. Of interest, one of the boarders was Hugh Freeman who was twenty one and single. Sarah's daughter, Martha Emily, married James Lewis Freeman who had a brother named Hugh Freeman. [5]

Sarah died 25 Mar 1919 in Bowling Green, Oglethorpe, Georgia. She was buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Stephens, Georgia the following day.
