George was born in Grahamstown, Cape Province on the 27th of July 1899.
George ran away from home at a young age. His father (Stanley?) is believed to have been an Anglican Priest in the Grahamstown area.
After the First World War, there was no work in South Africa. George met a man, David Harper and together, they went to Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) to work on the Copperbelt as a Mine Captain. It was there, in Lusaka that George met his wife to be, Ocea Louis Bowmaker.
George married Ocea Louis Bowmaker in Ndola, Northern Rhodesia on the 6th of November, 1933.
They had three children, Eileen, Eric and Norman.
In 1946, George contracted Typhus and they moved back to Johannesburg, South Africa. They stayed there for about a year before moving to Durban on the doctor's recommendation, as one of the children suffered from terrible eczema. Initially, George stayed with family in Winkelspruit until George bought a house in Montclair.
George worked as a Sworn Appraiser, Valuator and Estate Agent during his working career in Durban.
George passed away at Entabeni Hospital, Durban, on Tuesday the 3rd of July 1962. At the time of death, George was living at 12 Sharp Place, Montclair, Durban, South Africa.
