Thomas Taylor was born in Connecticut in 1758, the son of Gamaliel & Abigail (Cable) Taylor.
He married Mary Morehouse in Connecticut in 1783. They had several sons: Thomas (1787-1850), Gideon (1789 - ), and Gamaliel (1791-1792)
Thomas was one of two original Settlers of Wolcott, Vermont, arriving on snow shoes one day prior to Seth Hubbell, the only access to Wolcott being a path marked on trees from Hyde Park. He established the sawmill in Wolcott and later became Justice of the Peace for what was then Orleans County.
He is buried in the Taylor Cemetery , Wolcott, Vermont
