Biography

Benjamin was born in 1840. He passed away in 1923 [1]

Benjamin’s service during the Civil War is mentioned in the book “Kentucky Rebel Town” by William A. Penn:

“After a formation and roll call on Main Street in front of the stately Greek-Revival courthouse, Captain Desha proudly marched the fledgling soldiers, waving a Confederate flag, through downtown Cynthiana to the passenger depot to board the Lexington-bound train cars. Some carried bowie knives and daggers made by William C. Fryman, a local blacksmith. This Salem gunsmith also built a double-barreled rifle and shotgun for Private Benjamin A. Taylor in Desha’s company.”[2]

After the war Benjamin married William Fryman’s daughter Salina and Benjamin’s sister Rebecca married William Fryman’s son Dudley.
