Biography
Jesse Taylor was the son of Jesse Taylor, an Irish born merchant in Alexandria, Virginia. It is not recorded in source material when Jesse was born, only that he married to Mary Jaquelin Smith at her Uncle Edward's estate in Winchester, Virginia about 1791/1792, having died about six months later. Mary Jaquelin (Smith) Taylor shortly thereafter gave birth to his child, Jesse Taylor. The Smith Family of Virginia appears to confuse which Jesse Taylor attended Medical College at Philadelphia and moved to Kentucky to pursue his career.
