Biography

Jones is the principal source for this account, but manages to seem somewhat elliptical. He evidently finds father Hans Döther, wife Elisabetha and their three children Margaretha, Lorenz and Hans Georg on Leonbronn parish communicant lists from 1697 to 1708. The limited help this provides allows the inference that the youngest [Georg?] may have been born by about 1684. Both parents died by early 1709. The final entry was in 1709 after which it was noted that the three “sind in Engelland verreißt." It seems that Lorentz was treated subsequently as the head of ‘household’ but it is not obvious how that group was counted through the lists. More in that profile. For example Georg may have been included in Lorentz’ ‘household’ in the subsistence lists in 1710 but not in 1712(?). Both Lourens Dieder and Georg Doher were naturalized September 8, 9, 1715.[1] He married Anna Maria Meyer April 26, 1715 at West Camp.[2] Kocherthal marriage record for Jerg Thater and Anna Maria Meyer Apr. 26 1715, #69 in Olde Ulster transcription, named parents as Johann and Johann Friderich respectively and gives origins as Lehn berg [erroneously?] and Rohrbach respectively (4, 69). Her profile includes further corroboration. Jones finds Georg on the tax rolls at North Ward (Dutchess Co.) in 1717/18. He last appears at Rhinebeck in February 1761.[3]

Teater-21 and Deter-37 appear to represent the same person because: The Ancestry tree cited as the source for Teater-21 clearly indicates that these profiles are both for the same man. It also shows no sources for the birth and death information offered, so use the information from Deter-37.

The LNAB is problematic. This family is in the running for the "Most possible different spellings" prize, but merge into Deter as closer to original German.

Hi,

I’ve supplemented the research here and in Lorentz’s profile. As to a birth estimate I draw attention to Georg ‘s appearance in 1697 as a limit. How young would a congregant be? I particularly draw attention to the network of connections throughout the couple’s baptism sponsorships. I believe that this evidence all points to one Georg of plausible age.

I agree. Having accessed the Ancestry tree for Teater-21, he's clearly meant to be the same man. I'm setting up the merge again.

Thanks for your work on this John.

Teater-21 and Deter-37 do not represent the same person because: There is too much conflicting information to tell if these two are one. I recommend more research first to confirm. They could be father and son according to the dates.

Are there any elements of this profile that are well sourced? I think it should be totally superseded by Deter-37.

Yes, they look to be the same person.

The match has been rejected, and the information is different enough that this is probably a wise decision. But the son listed here - Henrich - looks like a better fit with the New York family than this man who settled in Pennsylvania. Do New York records show any sign of Henrich?

There is a bit on Henrich in NY. I’ll build up that profile. But a pretty big problem here is the profile as is has Georg’s mother born 3 years after he died! Just sayin.

There are a lot of Anna Maria Meyer's. This one is clearly the wrong one attached here. Her dates are very specific, so she probably represents a real person and should not be merged away. But she needs to be detached from Georg.
