Eliza Bond Tedford Hill was born about 1862. For most of her life she lived in Maryville, Tennessee, where she was part of a prosperous, well-respected family. She married Terelius Allen ("T.A.") Hill, a widower who was 9 years her senior, in 1891 when she was 29 years old and they had two children. She moved to Southern California in old age to live with her daughter, Willie Kate (Hill) Bond. She died in 1944 in Chula Vista (San Diego County) California. Eliza's middle name, Bond, is her mother's maiden name (Catherine Jane Bond). (Willie Kate's husband, Lester Bond, came from a family of Bonds from Portland, Maine, that were completely different from Catherine Jane Bond's family). In the attached family photo Eliza would have been 17 years old; she seated on the left in the first row next to Will Bond, who was probably her cousin and the namesake for Willie Kate, her daughter. Her father, Joseph Howard ("Howard") Bond, is 3rd from the left in the middle row, and her maternal grandfather, George Bond, is in the middle row, 5th from the left.
