Biography

Asa Love Teal was born in Terrell, Texas on 17 Nov 1904, the daughter of David Teel and Bettie Ellis. ^[1] Her mother died in 1906, when she was only 26, and Asa Love was only two years old. Her father re-married in 1908 to Clementine Clements. In 1920, ^[2] the 15 year old lived in Van Zandt, Texas on her father's farm. In the household were David (47); Clemie (38); Jewel May (17); Asa Love (15); Josie Christine (10); Nadine (6); and David Oliver (2).

Asa Love and her sister, Jewel May, married brothers. Jewel married John Henry Ewalt in 1925. Asa Love married his brother, Charlie Lee Ewalt in about 1930. Their first child, David Samuel Ewalt, was born in 1931 in Wills Point, Van Zandt, Texas. ^[3] In 1933, Charles Teel Ewalt was born in Wills Point. ^[4] The family moved to Kaufman, Texas before 1935, where Nelda Jean "Kitty" Ewalt was born. ^[5] In 1940, son Carroll Duane Ewalt was born in Terrell, Kaufman, Texas ^[6]

By 1950, although the family still farmed, Charlie(45) worked as a finisher at a boot factory; Asa Love (45) worked as a machine operator at the same boot factory; David (18) was a butcher's helper at a food store; and Charlie (16) was a farm helper. The two younger children, Nelda Jean (15) and Carroll Dwayne (9) were not employed. ^[7]

Charlie died of heart failure at the age of 66, ^[8] in 1971.

At the age of 75, on 29 Dec 1979, Asa Love re-married ^[9] to 75 year old Richard L. Easley in Kaufman.

Richard preceded Asa Love in death by only a few months. He died in February 1988, and Asa Love buried him beside his first wife, Evelyn, at Oakland Memorial Park, in Terrell. Asa Love passed away in November 1988 ^[10] and was buried beside Charlie at Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell. ^[11]
