Biography
She was born in 1895 at Saugeen Township, Ontario. Official birth records seem to have the surname indexed as "Tuple". She was the daughter of Roscoe Teeple and Isabella Clazie.
The handwriting was so poor on some records that her first name has been guessed as "Mayella", "Mazella", "Maryella", "Macella", "Macelle". Hard to be sure!
The 1901 census at Saugeen township showed "Maggie M. Teeple", 5, lived with her mother and siblings. Where was her father?
The 1911 Canada census at Saugeen Township showed the family split onto to pages, with some names misspelled, some "Tepple" and others "Tuple".
On one page were "Rosco Tepple", 48; "Isabel Tepple", 47; "William J. Tepple", 19; "James Tepple", 17.
On the next page were "Macella Tuple", 15; "Joseph Tuple", 13; "Chester Tuple", 10; "Roy Tuple", 5.
Clearly, this was the Teeple family! Bad handwriting led to the name being misread.
No later records have been found of Mazella / Mayella / Macella. Did she marry? Move away? Die early? Unknown...
